According to a definition from the École de technologie supérieure, "A technical report collects results from a research project or industrial sponsorship and supports the conclusions that arise. In opposition to a journal article, which is limited in the number of pages, the report includes the information necessary to interpret, apply and duplicate the results presented. It may also include comprehensive details, including negative results attained within the research project." (Our translation) (Source : ETS, 2012)
