For several years now, Polytechnique Montréal's librarians have been following the issues related to open access. In 2010, a presentation about open access was offered to several professors.
As part of the complementary workshop for doctoral training CAP7005E - Handling of scientific and technical information, our librarians inform all PhD students on the issues related to open access to scientific information.
This debate is gaining momentum in the world of scientific publishing and it is important that the researchers from Polytechnique's community be aware of the various options available when they publish. Also, the Service-Conseils librarians are available to answer questions regarding open access.
On May 29, 2014, the 13th Research Day: Open Source, Open Data, Open Access was held at Polytechnique Montréal.
The lecture (in French) given by Vincent Larivière, who holds the Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication and who is an assistant professor of information science at the University of Montreal, focused specifically on methods of dissemination of knowledge in open access: challenges for scientists - Modes de diffusion des connaissances en libre accès: les enjeux pour les scientifiques.
