EndNote, BibTeX, Zotero: Managing Your References

By using bibliographic management software, a user can import references from databases, PDF files, and web pages in order to create a personal reference library. These libraries can generally be shared among multiple users.

The references can be organized into folders or groups and be assigned labels or tags to classify them.

Bibliographic management software is compatible with word processors such as Word, LibreOffice, etc. Therefore, it is possible to automatically generate a bibliography in a variety of styles for articles, reports, CVs, theses, dissertations, etc.

Usually, bibliographic management software is multi-platform (Windows, Mac OS and Linux) and can be used on different computers. Data is synchronized and the user always works with the same library.
